We found all of Germany to be extremely child friendly, but this area in particular blew everything else out of the water!
Here are some of the highlights around Bavaria that are baby and toddler friendly
1. The views from Garmisch-Partenkirchen
Let me just start with the fact that this was the view from our window:
This place was amazing. It had 3 bedrooms, and everything you need to occupy a toddler; including a crib, high chair, train set, books, and a ton of other fun toys
It was clean, well equipped for cooking, and very easy to find. The backyard also made for a perfect backdrop for photoshoots!
2. Summit Zugspitze
Zugspitze is the highest peak in Germany (a whopping 2962m!) and is accessible year round. Winter brings some amazing skiing, but since it was summer, we just took the gondola up for the views…
After waiting about an hour though (and a quick nap for A), we did get to see what we paid for!
The top of the mountain is stroller friendly, and has lots of indoor space to walk around in if the weather is bad.
This was a short 20 min drive from our place. There’s a lake you can swim at with some beautiful views of the mountains
3. Neuschwanstein Castle
This famous castle is also a short drive away. We did it as a half day trip from our place. You can’t drive up to the castle, but the walk is a pretty easy, paved uphill path which takes about 40mins one way and is very stroller friendly. The classic castle shots are taken from Marienbrucke bridge, which is an extra 15 min walk past the castle.
You can also continue on the unpaved trail past Marienbrucke bridge, to get a better and touristless viewpoint. But that part I did on my own since we couldn’t bring the stroller there.
4. Restaurant Vaun
We casually walked up to this restaurant right when they opened at 5pm and asked if they had seats. The greeter looked hesitant (which I thought was odd given there was no one inside) and even ran inside to ask the manager if they had seats. We later found out this was a Michelin star restaurant and you need to make reservations days in advance. Needless to say, the food was superb!
